Upma is popular breakfast or “tiffin” (evening snack) in South India. It is easy to make and quite filling. Upma is basically roasted semolina cooked in tempered water.
A Simple South Indian Breakfast
Ingredients Needed
1 cup rava(sooji rava) 2 tbsp oil 1 tbsp mustered seeds 1/2 tsp uraddal 1/2 tsp chana dal 2 broken red chilli Few curry leaves 3 green chillies 1 tomato 1 tbsp grated ginger Pinch termeric powder 1/2 tsp chilli powder Salt to taste 2 cups water Coriander leaves

It is light and refreshing. Great for body detox and contain only four ingredients.watermelon and cucumber works well together, and is very good for you. It is delicious when combined as a salad or in juice form.
They both are natural diuretic hence helps in flushing excess water and toxins out of our system.
Also, I feel it’s a great n natural way to keep our-self hydrated and energetic.
The mixture is then strained through a fine mush sieve and then it’s ready to serve! If you have any leftovers, keep it in the fridge for a few days.
Nei Payasam or sharkara payasam is a special traditional payasam usually served as neivedhyam in kerala temples. Nei Payasam is prepared with kerala raw rice or unakkalari. kerala raw rice/ unakalari rice is commonly used for Nei Payasam.
Unakkalari is a kind of raw rice used in Kerala and the rice is used without removing the rice bran. Nei Payasam, also called as Aravana Payasam is cooked in a brass uruli that is thick bottomed and cooked on low flame to get the flavours are nicely mixed. Though this is similar to the Sakkarai Pongal, the way this payasam is cooked makes all the difference.
Jaggery is the sweetner used to make this dish and the colour depends on the jaggery used.

Sooji Fingers is delicious and healthy, Tea Time snack. It’s a perfect appetizer or a teatime snack. They become delicious crackly crispy outside when it is fried. it tastes perfect with green chutney or coconut chutney both.
It is named fingers because it is shaped like a finger. It is an easy snack recipe which is prepared easily and tastes good as a light appetizer. Many recipes are prepared with rava this snack is one of my favourite one.
Ingredients Needed
1 cup rava/sooji
1/2 cup curd
1 TSP(garlic & green chilli paste)
Salt
1/2 cup water for mixing the batter
Set aside(25 min)
After 25 min
Add 1 tbsp sugar(optional)
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp oil
Mix again add into the greased pan and steam cook for 25 min, once it is slightly warm cut them into fingers.
For tempering
2 tbsp oil
1 TSP mustered seeds
Broken red chilli 2
Few curry leaves
Fry sooji fingers on low flame until all the sides are crisp.

For dipping I have used papads for a more crunchy taste.

Sharjah Shake Recipe || How to make kerala banana shake
Sharjah Shake: Banana shake is known as Sharjah Shake here in Kerala. It is one of the most common shake that we get in ice cream parlors across the state. Topped with vanilla ice cream and lightly toasted/salted (crunchy) peanuts….with the goodness of frozen milk and banana….makes this a refreshing drink.
This is my version of sharjah Shake, I added little water 5 tbsp to prepare this sharjah Shake it is optional

3 bananas Frozen milk 1 cup Sugar Boost (chocolate drink) you can add bornvita or Horlicks also to it Salted peanuts 5 tbsp water (optional)
